VLD Week #2

Dear Kelvin,

          We had planned to leave Vietnam, we will take a bus to Rach Gia and leave Vietnam using a boat, and we hope the boat is not taken by the communists. We must make it look like we are not leaving at all, we must leave the lights on and do normal routines, then we can slowly slip away to Rach Gia, two person at a time. We must make ourselves an alibi so that they will believe that we are not escaping Vietnam. My sister keep crying and crying all day long, she was so scared, my dad and mom is calm as normal, and I am also pretty calm, but I am pretty worried if the communists find us there in Rach Gia.

          Now all of us have reached Rach Gia safely. We have bad news, my father's father is dead, and the boat is taken by the communists now, the name is not lucky dragon anymore, it is VN 507. My father was very upset and wanted to surrender, I told him to stay positive and just take any opportunity, I suggested to him to take the boat back. My father is very angry when I said that, but then my mother said that the plan was not bad, so my father agreed to take the boat back for us to escape this terrible country.

          I and my father sneak onto the jetty in the port, waiting for nightfall. Then came the night, we crept slowly under the jetty like ninjas, invisible. My mother and sister were waiting in the sandbank near the jetty, the plan is to take the boat by the tide, and to go take my family which is in the sandbank. Then we should go deeper to the ocean and start the engine, If we start the engine at the port, the communists will hear us and will shoot us, the plan will fail.

         So I sneaked into the boat successfully and cut the rope using a knife my mother gave me. The tide brought us to the sandbank and we successfully take my family in. We have escaped Vietnam. But then there is a person on board too, but luckily he is willing to help us escape Vietnam, so our mission is successful.

Project #5 - Biography

     My father's name is Satrio Kartikahadi, he is an accountant in the company "Deloitte." He was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. He is a cool and calm person. I chose him instead of my mom because I want to be an accountant when i grow up. For generations my family members are accountants.

     He was born in Jakarta with a not-so-rich family; his father is a merchant and didn't gain a lot of cash. Later when his father died, his uncle payed his school expenses; his uncle was one of the peoples who formed the company "Deloitte." in Indonesia.

     He became an accountant in Deloitte after graduating. He worked super hard and he got promoted all the time. He had a 18 month working experience in USA, at that time, he was already married.

     Later, he became the partner in the company, it is a great accomplishment for him. Even though his life is successful, he still have trouble, but most of the troubles is related to work. He can reach this far because his grandmother taught him all that he needs to know.

     People considered him as a calm and cool person, well, I consider him as a short tempered person because he likes to get angry so fast, anyway, he is always hardworking because he always go home late at night.

- I learnt a lot of things while doing this project, most of all, I learnt about the life of my dad when he is young, until he is a grown up adult. His life was pretty much interesting, and from it we can know that if we work really hard everyday, we can be a sucessful person. I also learned about the Company Deloitte. I now know who made the company in Indonesia, but it was originated from Japan.

Project #4 - Alphabiography

B is for Badminton
I've been playing badminton since i was a child, ireally enjoyed badminton beacuse it is fun and you need skill to play it. I have lots of events happening in badminton, I also have a friend that always play badminton with me. His name is nicholas, he is very good in playing it. Until now, I still play it with him. There is a badminton place near my house, I play there for 2 years with my friend.

C is for Composing music
Music is my life, it makes me feel so good by just listening to it, and also,I like making music. You can create music by expressing what you are felling. After making the musick you can create even more music. The more the better. I've started making music since I went in High school. Composing music is really fun.

D is for Dad
My dad is important in my life, he is the family money source, he taught me how to draw, how to play chess, how to become an accountant and other business stuff. He made me want to become an accountant like him. He likes to play PvZ in the computer, he always plays that, nothing else, he likes to watch movies in HBO, he also likes to sleep.My dad goteasily angry if my attitude is bad, so my attidtude improved.

F is for Flash
Flash is an important part of my life, it is a program for us to create animation and stuff. Flash makes me can make cool stuff. Flash can make me express my feeling by making the animation I want. I've learnt flash from 5th grade and now I am improving my flash skills. Making flash is like playing games, it is really addicting. Flash taught me hard work makes food results.

G is for Games
Games has change my life a lot. Games is so fun and addicting, I always play games. I am a gamer so everyday i play a lot of games, usually I play online games in the compute, but i also play many varieties of games. most of all, I like RPG the most, it is because it is really fun and you need to think to play the game. Game really changes my life, It makes my hand fast and i have a fast reaction.

J is for Jonathan
Jonathan Huang is my cousin, he is important in my life because he is the one who teaches me how to play games and teach me pretty much about everything involving games. He also teach my about toys usually Gundams and stuff. He also likes comics, most of them are Donald comics, so I read them too. He is a really good gamer, I want to be a gamer like him.

K is for Karen
Karen is my little sister, she is really annoying, and if she doesn't exist, my life would be so much easier, she always cause trouble and she always frame me for the trouble, and the result, is I always get the scolding and stuff. She is really stupid in maths, she always gets bad score, and worse, she always asks me to teach her even if I don't have time. My little sister taught me what "obstacles in life" is, because she is one.


M is for Mom
My mom is important in my life, if I had no mom, i would have not been born, she took care of me really goodly and she taught me important life lessons, she is short tempered, and sometimes she's really nice ( in front of other people). She takes decisions for me when I was a kid. She also cooks food for me, she likes watching drama movies.My mom sometimes scold me for playing a lot of games, so now I play less games.


O is for Origami
I really like origami, I used to learn it from books, between I learn it from YouTube because I hate seeing pictures that doesn't move. Doing origami is fun because it can make your hands really good and skillful. It can also train your patience. I always play origami at home, Stefan, my best friend, also likes origami.Origami tells me that we need to be skillful.


P is for programming
I used to wish I am a programmer, because programmer can make cool games and websites. My main inspiration is Mark Zuckerburg. He could make FB really good and he becomes a successful person, I want to be like him, so I will study programming really hard and make a really good website. Programming taught me that we need to study to be smart.


R is for robotics
I've been doing robotics since grade 2, but I stopped at grade 4. Robotics was really fun, I remembered the fun time I had with my best friend, Stefan, while we both make robots, usually I was always the fastest one to make the robot, the other kids were really slow and so stupid. I used to wish I am a robotic expert, but I want to be something else now. Robotics tells me we need to be fast and steady.


S is for Stefan
He is my best friend in elementary school, he is short but smart. I always do things and play with him, eat with him, and practically do anything with him. But now I have transferred school and he doesn't play with me anymore. We used to play stupid things together, and we always laugh at jokes together. I hope he changes school from KGS into IPEKA because i miss him a lot.
He is my best friend ever.

1. I decided to make all the 12 letters first, then I make the paragraphs. I like making the Alpha biography because it have memories in it. I did well in describing something for each letter.
I included parts that are the most important ones, the one that doesn't seem so bright in my head, I left out.


2. Objective details
     1- I have a sister named Karen - My very annoying sister that ruins my life.
     2- I have a mother and father - Obviously, I have one and it is impossible to not have one
     3- I have been joining robotics from 2nd Grade - I started at 2nd grade and stopped at 4th.


    Subjective details
     1- I used to play and eat with Stefan - I used to do anything with him.
     2- I like programming - I really like it because it is fun.
     3- I like Origami - I really like it because its nice to make something creative.


3. What I really did well in my alpha biography is being descriptive of what each letter of the alphabet means. The hardest part is thinking of what should I choose for the alphabet.

Project #3 - Bible Story

The creation of the Earth

Genesis 1 - 2:3
     In the beginning I created the heavens and earth, My spirit was hovering over the waters. I said, "let there be light," I separated the light from darkness. I called the light, "day" and darkness "night".
     The second day, I said, "Let there be an expense between waters to separate water from water. I called the expense "Sky".
     The third day, I said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear," I called the dry ground "Land" and waters "Seas" then I said, "let the land produce vegetation : seed bearing plants and trees on land that bear fruit with seed in it according to carious kinds,".
     The fourth day, I said, "Let there be expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them server as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let the be light in the expense of the sky to give light on the earth," Then I made the stars, and I saw it was good.
     The fifth day, I said let the water teem with living creatures and let the birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky," and I saw it was good, with fish and birds, I said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds : live-stock, creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And I saw it was good.
     The sixth day, I think i need to make a man in my image to rule over my creations. So i created a man in my image. I said to them to be fruitful and to increase in numbers, and to fill the earth. I also told them to rule over my creatures.
     The seventh day, I finished all my work, so I rested and I made the seventh day holy because I rested from all the work of creating what i made.

1. I choose this story because it tells us how God created this world in only 6 days. I parts i choose to include is the words God says, and the part I leave out is usually unimportant details that is unnecessary.
I put a lot of God's words in this story so the story is interesting. I followed quite many words in the Bible so that the story make sense and doesn't differ too much from the original passage from the Bible.

2. The difficult thing when writing my story is how to make the story fit into several paragraphs, the real story in the bible has very many paragraphs, so I tried to summarize the story but people must still be able to understand the story.

3. The thing that I enjoyed when I was making the story is I can share how great God is, he created the world in just 6 days, and i want everybody to know about it. The story is also interesting, I get to know more about God creating the world.

Project #2 - Newspaper Article

Marshmallow Man on Fire

     Mark Johnson was burned at the street when wearing a marshmallow costume to advertise "Markmallows tm", it happened at 12 noon in NYC.

     Mark Johnson, a 32 year old person has just been killed by the deadly fire. He died at 12:13 P.M. in Marsh Street, NYC. Mark was there trying to advertise "Markmallows tm" using a marshmallow costume then he attracted a 12 year old kid names Julian Reyner. Julian keep staring at Mark which was standing next to the campfire Mark set up for advertisement purposes, then suddenly Julian screamed "Huge marshmallow!!" and pushed Mark to the fire, Mark screamed and tried to find water, but the fire made Mark unconscious.
     Mark's body turned into ashes when the ambulance and the firefighters came, his whole body was badly injured, he was dead before the ambulance cam, Julian Reyner was brought to court and declared guilty for killing a person, he was sent to jail for 15 years and 5 months. "It was a terrible sight," said Mary Johnson, Mark's wife.
     Because of the incident, the mayor of NYC made a law of not to light up fire in the street unless you get special permission from the mayor himself.

     There's a possibility that Julian wasn't the one who killed Mark, people rumored that there was another kid who was in the scene of the crime, but fled away after the incident, the kid's name and face is still unknown until now, the police are starting an investigations to find the mystery kid.

The topic is introduced What, Why, When, Where so the reader can get more information of what they are about to read. Quotes to make the reader believe that the news is real. Bold font is at the beginning of article to make the reader interested to read the article.

Project#1 Adventure ad

1.  My purpose of advertisement is to make the reader of the advertisement become attracted enough to   join the tour.

2. The best language feature in my advertisement is the attractive picture and the big fonts, the big fonts says "Aloha Hawaii" that means hello Hawaii, it attracts the reader to continue on reading the advertisement and make them want to join the tour. The attractive picture is to make the reader see how good Hawaii is, if the reader likes the picture, he/she may be willing to join the tour.
